The night before the 4th of July I and hubby went to see the fireworks in our town. It was my first time to watched the fireworks. And so I don’t have any slightest idea how it is chilly when it gets dark. We went without me bringing a sweatshirt and putting a socks on. I wore a pedal shorts and flipflops with a thin tops so I ended up getting cold. Thankfully my step sons wife had an extra jacket so I used it. The fireworks ended up before 10 Pm but I and hubby went to get out early because of the traffic.
The next day is the day of celebration the 4th of July. Lanie and I planned our fireworks party at our backyard field. We planned it more than a month ago and it was my first time to have some of my friends on that day. It was fun I had a chanced again to watched the fireworks which John (Lanies husband) bought all of those stuff. Before it gets dark we drove around the field which husband is the driver. I had a blast with it too because it reminds me of Philippines. Its just that in the Philippines it’s the carabao who will carry us with the “kanga”. Here are some of the pics.

My elusive visitor.
Last week, while I was setting close by the sliding door I heard a tiny buzzing. As I turned my head and looked at my left side I froze! Because the tiny buzzing came from my tiny visitor the hummingbird. He was so gorgeous very tiny but so fast. I froze while watching the tiny creature at the same time wanted to reached out for my digital camera. I wanted to capture the moment but when I moved he just flew away. So the next day, I waited (between 7am to 8am) when I first saw him. When all of a sudden there he is again very tiny and very awesome to watched. But unfortunately my camera was too far for me to reached so I just stood behind the sliding door and watched my tiny visitor. The next day, was the day when we do fishing so I didn’t saw him.. The next few days I didn’t see him I thought he may changed his schedule of visiting the feeder that I set for him. But to my surprise today between 12 noon to 12:30 I saw my tiny visitor again. I am elated for his constant visit I know he didn’t personally visit me but for the hummingbird feeder that has a very sweet mixture inside. My wish is that he will bring his family or friends to come and nip the sweetest nectar that I personally prepare for them. Crossing my finger.
My deer.
Yesterday, after eating grilled beef steak prepared by hubby. I asked hubby to go out (backyard) and watched me cut some branches of the trees. But I ended up in my garden trying to weed the weeds. Our property is an open field at the back which my mother in law owns 17 acres on our right side and my step sons 10 acres on our left side. So it was an open field were animals like MY DEER is very free to wonder around and looked for alfalfa grass. As I weed my garden and checked for budding flowers I looked at my back and I saw a deer. I sneaked very carefully and told hubby that a deer is so close grazing for alfalfa. We moved very carefully because just a tiny sound that they hear they retreated to the woods so fast. But this time I was able to see him so close and was able to get a picture of him while grazing. What makes me giggle too is that another animal a racoon is within the picture hmmmm is he in shortage of attention that he came to the picture without batting an eyelash he just stayed there what the heck!! Hahaha!

Yesterday, we headed north particularly at Bay city to fish. It was my first fishing here in MI. Been two years that me and hubby bought a fishing license but we never used it. This year we bought our license the day before we go fishing (playing safe huh). So we headed up north very early in the morning since we have to travel more than 30 miles (I guess) to reach our exact destination.
With us were my step-daughter Deb and her husband Ron and their grand-child Jake. We arrived the marina still feeling cold though the sun is up. As we approached the marina couldn’t believe what I saw so many pick-up or suv trucks are there already. That means many boats are in the Lake that early!!
When we were inside the boat ready to go hubby asked me to put on the life jacket hehe. Because he knew that I don’t know how to swim incase something happened to me I have something to hold on to (how sweet)!! Anyway, we were there trying to find the fish as we calmly and diligently watched the GPS (for the fish). Hubby called me ( because I was in front of the boat) when he found out that we got our first catch. He taught me how to pull , drop the fishing line and just take it easy so the fish who is in the bait will not get out. And I got it right I had the first walleye fish. I claim it as my first fish in my first fishing adventure.

Another walleye fish.

Summer is here……
Today is the start of summer. And this morning we experienced a sudden downpour of rain which I do really like for my plants. The whole day, the weather was so nice. It was not hot nor too cold. So we went to Kerby coneys for a breakfast right across the Great Mall. After we ate our brunch we went to the mall and shopped around. And then this afternoon I planted three kinds of squash. I think my garden is loaded with plants now hehe. I am so excited to see the fruit of my labor.
My first strawberry……
Yeah!! I had my first strawberry. I don’t have a huge patch of strawberry. In fact , I planted that strawberry two years ago. And since strawberry grow every year it came back this year and I decided to clean up the patch. This afternoon after planting the squash and hubby till the soil I told him that I like to have a special patch for just the strawberry. I hope that next year I could choose the area where I could plant the strawberry. Crossing my finger!!

Garage sale………..
One of the best part of spring and specially summer is that garage sale signs are mushrooming every other corner in your place. And that is one of my favorite thing to do in this time of weather. First, I can find good novels for just .50 cents or a $1. Second, I could find some good stuff that I could send back home for my nieces and nephew specially books and DVD’s in just $1 !!! The other day, I went to this subdivision and meet a Filipina who lives there. She sold here buffet table, I kind of liking it because it is made of oak not a cheapy cheapy made. I was thinking I may use this since hubby is thinking of buying a huge flat tv
for his trading. Anyway, I bought it though without asking my hubby hehe and we chatted for awhile and became acquainted. Soon I am going to visit her since she is just 2 miles away from me.

Couple of days ago I had a tremendous shock of my life. Well folks it is not a matter of life or death
my laptop just crash. Yes and definitely I was in panic mode. I don't know what to do and I don't even know what made it crash. It just turn blank and then all of the sudden in the monitor it says the window microsoft is not functioning something to that effect.
So I discussed some options to my hubby and we agreed first to call the insurance company that the laptop was insured. I found out that the laptop is insured for 2 years and we are still on it. Hubby called the number immediately and talked about it. Well the person whom hubby talked to tried his best to make the laptop worked though but it doesn't. So he told us to figure some options buy this stuff or checked this up I told him all the name is too techy to me. So we ended up the call without any positive result. So we set the day for me and hubby to go to the store where we bought the laptop.
But at night, I could barely sleep I was thinking too much of my laptop. It worries me because I can't just jump in and used my hubbies computer since he has very important things going on in his pc. The guy that we talked over the phone told us that we have to find the recovery disc. He also added saying that my laptop might have it or it is already installed. Yesterday, I looked at boxes of software cd's and voila I found the recovery paper disc!!! Yes, the guy was right it is already installed in my laptop. I read the instruction on how to recover it and I got it right. The next problem I had then was that how am I going to connect the wireless connection from our pc to my laptop. Fortunately when I wirelessly connected them it only ask one thing "network key" and I got it right in my head since I am the one who made my network key
. I hit the keyboard and voila again I had it connected wirelessly
that fast huh??!! I had the biggest grin when hubby checked me out
. But my back was aching so much because I worked my butt out on the floor. I haven't think of moving to the table to worked I was just too engrossed of what I was doing.
When I logged in I found out that ALL MY FILES
are gone!!! Yup all my music, pictures, scrapbooking, everything!! It was back from the first time I bought the laptop. All my favorite list of websites are gone too as in the history of my laptop that I have used it for almost 2 years where just vanished in thin air
But over all I am thankful that I was able to FIX it without shedding $$$$ on it. Because I don't like the thought of that
.though. I am also thankful that I can still retrieve some of my pictures through friendster, photobucket, rock you, slide, flickr although not all where there but it is okay nalang. Nothing could ask for I have to live what I've got for now.

Today is Fathers day!! We were out the whole day basically. The first gift that I have given him was opened a month ago it is a TomTom GO 720. Today, after church we went to Great Lakes mall to shop for his other gift. I thought of giving him a nice tempur-pedic pillow but when I was inside Bed Bath & Beyond store I looked around and found too many pillows to choose from. I took the tempur-pedic pillow from the shelve and feel it, right there I know he is not going to like it. Since the pillow that I like seems hard and I know that he doesn’t like hard pillows and those pillows that give pressure on his neck and head. So I called him on his cellphone (he was taking a coffee break close to the store I was in) and asked him if he could come inside and picked out the pillow that he likes. It was not a surprised then because he knew what I am going to give to him hehe. But I was so thankful that I let him choose what he likes since I don’t like to come back to the store and changed it. Right now he is sleeping like a baby on his new pillow. Love you honey and Happy Fathers day !!
An open house for Jenni
Jenni just graduated her middle school in Georgia. She is my sister in laws grandkid. The first time I came here I saw her as chubby, pretty and a very determined kid. After that first time, I later knew that she is going to an advance military training in middle school at that!! Oh well, what we just all do is to boast her morale, supported her and her very good grandma called her EVERYDAY and together they pray each other over the cellphone. Last Saturday, we celebrated her graduation party or they call it her an open house with so much thankfulness. Still we continue to pray for her because she is going to a military college down( air force) in San Antonio, Texas where there is no contact from outside world for a period of time. For Jenni who will embark the military world we love you and everyday we will always pray for you.

One thing that I like here in Michigan is that I do really experience the four seasons in the real sense of the word. When spring time comes all the people are so excited to spend their time outside of there house to plant and buy more flowers, shrubs and trees that they like. When I arrived here I was so excited to plant that I didn’t take noticed that there are two kinds of plants, one is annual and the other one is perennial. So I just bought those annual flowers (because they are so colorful and loaded with flowers) and later on I knew that the annual flowers do not come back after winter. Oh my gush!! I was thinking it was a waste of money although they really do look nice but I don’t like the thought of buying every year for flowers. Then last year we have this cleaning up around the house in which all my step sons and daughters came to help. So we planted some shrubs that in spring time the color of the leaves will turn yellow. Then I also bought an evergreen that won’t grow too tall and two pink and white peonys, aside from lavender and some asian lily. They cost a lot for a first time buyer but then come to think of it I will only buy it once and later on for the next years to come they will just thrive.
Then yesterday after a night of soaking rain my pink and white peonys came out in full bloomed. That makes me so thrilled and excited I took pictures of them. I also told Lanie about my peonys because she had more peonys in her house specially she had several different varieties, and she told me she had some flowers to give to me too. Yahooo!! I am so excited to get more perennial flowers.

My garden
Presenting to the whole wide world my garden!!! Yes it is huge as usual. And with all the equipment around hubby plowed the ground quickly and viola after few minutes it is done. I planted the garden with lots of vegetables like tomatoes, zucchini, watermelon, cucumber, onion, alugbati, kangkong, white squash, long beans (batong),pepper, okra, eggplant and chayote. I bought the Filipino vegetables in 19 mound road where a Filipina has a nursery and sold vegetables and some exotic plants. She even had a banana tree which I was so envious because it is loaded with fruits. She also had several kalamansi tree which are also loaded with fruits. But I couldn’t help to buy the dama de noche, kamungay and sili which I transplanted to a pot because later on I am going to bring them inside the house when winter comes.

mi dama de noche
mi sili na halang

My chicken house..
Yes guys I have 25 chicks right now and they are growing fast. My step son has a chicken house and since he is going to sell his 10 acres property he gave some of his things to his father and relatives. And one that I got is this chicken house. I am so excited to see the first egg. But I don’t know if I will have the nerve or courage to kill those chicken. I guess it will be hubby who will do it since he is the one who like to eat chicken who doesn’t come from the supermarket. In other words organic chicken gusto niya.

The Filipino Association Party
Last weekend, it was a girls night out hehe. Actually it was not really exclusively a girls night out but we just agreed not to bring our respective husbands at that time. It was a spring party held by the Filipino association here in MI. Many friends were there we had a good time dancing, chatting and eating of course. Here are some of the pictures taken that night.

Bridal shower and baby showers…
Last weekend I attended a bridal shower held at Lanies house. It is our friend Jonna who is going to tie the knot to her husband Keith. There were quite a few friends who came to the shower party. We had some games and as usual the food is good. It was more of pica2x or in other word finger foods which lots of fruits on the side. Then I also attended a baby shower at Ferndale. With me is my sister in law and her daughter in law in tow. It was a long ride from our place so the one who drove us is Pam who just got her new Chrysler car. The weather at this two parties are awesome. Which for us Michiganders love to be outside enjoying the sun and who cares what awaits for us inside the house (like household chores hehe).
Bad headache

Three days ago I had a terrible2x headache. It comes from the back of my eye and it stayed on my left side of the head. I rarely cried when I’m in pain or something. But that time I was not just whining but crying out loud. I couldn’t help it it is just too painful for me to bear. Hubby was with me the whole time he asked me what he gonna do to alleviate the pain. So I told him to massage my temple but he was so amazed I am not contented with just a simple pressing or massaging I wanted him to pressed harder that I was the one leading his hands to my head. I don’t know if it was a migraine or my stigmatism, hubby told me to see a doctor but just a thought of it makes me chickened out. Thankfully, after I took the biogesic pill I was able to sleep the whole night and woke up feeling alright but still feeling lightheaded until now.
A friend of mine send this to me through email of course it made me smile like this .......
"Pay first." sabi ng attendant. Lalong namutla si Dan! "Patay! Hinahanapan ako ng papers!"
Iniwan nya ang kotse at dali-daling naglakad papunta sa phone booth upang
tawagan ang kapatid n'yang nasa New York .
"AT&T May I help you?" sagot ng operator.
Pinagpawisan ng malamig si Dan! "Pati operator alam na TNT ako!"
May nakapilang pulis na gagamit din ng telepono at tanong sa kanya... " Are you done?"
Napatitig na lang si Dan sa pulis! "Kilala niya ako? Alam niyang DAN ang pangalan ko!,
sa isip-isip nya."
Nang di makasagot si Dan, tinanong uli sya ng pulis, "Are you a tourist?"
Nanghina si Dan dahil pati apelyido niyang Torres ay alam din ng pulis!
At nang hihimatayin na sya, inalalayan sya ng pulis at sabi "Be cool!"
"Inang ko po! Alam din nyang taga Bicol ako! WAAAHHHH! Uuwi na lang ako sa 'pinas!"
Moral op da istori:
Wag kang mag ti-TNT sa istets!
SMILE NAMAN DYAN!
