Strawberry picking

I remember long time ago I was in Cagayan de Oro city I happened to go by in one of there big shopping mall. Usually if I am in a big city I always visit there supermarket since it is there that you could find there PASALUBONG section. I was in the fruit section when I happened to see the cutest strawberry you could ever find. I am impressed by the color and shape of a strawberry. So I ended up buying one small box of strawberry.. I never opened or tried to taste it when I was in the bus going home. I am just so excited to show to my family what really a strawberry looks like and it might be sweet who knows. When I get home I immediately told them I have a pasalubong for them and one of them is strawberries. Whoa!! They all gathered around the table and one by one picked a strawberry. But to our dismay it was very sour. Yup, no one like it then. When I went to Baguio last 2003 with my neice in tow, my nieces paternal side told me to try eating strawberry. I did decline the offer because what inculcated in my mind is the sourness of the strawberry. From all of that experienced I rather try the strawberry jam which became too sweet because of the sugar mixed in it.

When I came here in US strawberry is all over (like in the store). Hubby like to buy strawberry to make strawberry short cake which is not really my favorite. But then yesterday me, cleo and lanie and the kids where headed up for strawberry picking. It was my first time to picked strawberries. I was kind of excited since I am going to picked strawberries on my own and I could see patches and patches of strawberry. And it feels good it feels that this is really America hehe. And oh by the way, the farm is just 2 or 3 miles away from our house. And I also planted several strawberry plants but not in patches though. So I thought oh this is not new to me but when we were there the farm is so huge that they took us with there wagon. When we reaches to our destination I saw long patch of strawberries. The girl assigned us to our patch to picked the strawberries. And I saw people there already picking. From my notion before that strawberries are sour it was changed yesterday. Yup, I ate so many strawberries along the patch while I was picking and man they all sweet!!

Next destination: Apple picking and Berry picking
