An update!

  • Mood:
  • A daily Reminder: A person needs at intervals to separate from family and companions and go to new places. One must go without familiars in order to be open to influences, to change.
Here is my update for the past days...

1. Arrived Manila, Philippines from Detroit, USA around 11:30pm Wednesday. Was able to get our from the NAIA airport around 12:30 am Thursday. I decided to go directly to the domestic airport since I found out that there is no domestic flight on Holy Friday. So I stayed there with a bunch of people already waiting for the ticketing office to opened at 2:00 am for PAL and 3:00 am for Air Philippines. Fortunately, I  already had a reservation number and so I got the ticket past.
At the airport I meet Pinays who came from Tennessee and some are OFW's who came from Hongkong and Dubai. So chika2x to the max ever about their life story in working abroad and also to their families who are left behind. Until isa-isang nag-alisan na to go to their respective gate na. When it was my turn to check-in my luggage I knew that I will have an excess luggage. But fortunately a pinay told me to submit also the international boarding pass so they will add 10lbs to my 20 lbs allowable to carry. And thanks God  I didn't pay any amount from excess luggage. And so I boarded the plane and landed in Ozamiz airport safe and sound. I was sweating a lot because it was just too hot!! But all of the feeling of tiredness, hungry, no sleep was lifted off when I saw my nieces and nephew waiting for me outside the airport. They were so excited too see me that they cried I was so touch too.
One thing that they were so excited is what is inside my two huge luggage for the fact that the day before my two balikbayan box arrived and they already had a blast sorting all their pasalubong. When I got home I had the sumptous lunch with my family.

It is kinilaw, bulad, adobong pinamala, bisaya na chicken. Inon-on and the ginamos was not in the picture.

2. For the past years every time I came to visit Philippines I celebrated Easter Sunday where my brothers house village is located. On the other side of the village are kids who are less privileged. So the Easter egg hunting  was created. We gather all the kids with my nieces and nephew and have some games prepared for them and most specially food. We had behon, fried chicken, hotdog, sinugbang liempo and caldereta. It was fun watching the kids looking for the Easter eggs and a lot of chocolates just hanging everywhere hehe.

3. Saturday, my batch mates in high school texted me. They were at La veranda waiting for me with some of my classmates whom I never meet or see in the past 25 years after high school graduation. We have a blast because our impromptu get together lasted until 12 midnight hehehe. After a light snack at La Veranda we found out that a classmate of mine is a good chef. And he asked us if it is okay if he can cooked for us. Of course the answer is a big YES!! So off we go to Gaisano and bought all the ingredients that he needed. At Gaisano, we meet more classmates/batch mates and so we told them that we have  a get together at the house of another batch mates of ours. We had fun assisting our chef classmate our laughter and camaraderie is incomparable too.

Overall, everything is fine but oh wanting that I like to share here is that I now have a cough and my voice is fading (pagaw) which I always had every time I came to visit  PI. It maybe because it is so dusty and hot. But oh well, this coming Friday we gonna go to DAKAK .

Doing the grocery with the kids.

  Namayabas...

Kim Inday,
You have one fantastic meal on top of your dining table. As I can see from the foto, Filipino kids always travel in groups . There's no shortage of kids around wherever u go, unlike here if u r not invited u r not supposed to show up. Okie dokie, enjoy ur stay and make the most of it.
